An Ode

March 10, 2009

When the cold hits the bones,
When the chill numbs the feet,
She is the one who warms your heart,
She is the winter heat.

When the sun gets to the head,
When even the wind brings pain,
She bathes you in heavenly bliss,
She is the summer rain.

When life is at a difficult bend,
When sorrow is all it can bring,
She fills your soul with joy,
She is the blossom of the spring.

Tomorrow, it will be for 23 months that we’d have known each other, just a month short of two years. Two years of knowing the most wonderful person I have ever known; the one woman in my life; my lady love, my queen of hearts.

Two years ago, I wasn’t sure if it was all worth it. She was in another city, far away, and I’d heard and read so much about how difficult long-distance relationships are. But nevertheless, it was the first time I’d fallen in love, so things had to eventually sort themselves out. Today, I’m glad I didn’t turn away at that point of time in our history, and I’m glad I stayed put in our relationship, because today we are happier than ever. Meeting only once a year is tough, but then, love has its own weird ways.

She is the one exceptional woman I know who loves rock music, cricket and football, and oh yes, is an intellectual. However, she has also kept her childlike traits intact, which make her totally adorable. It is a pleasure spending even a little time with her, even after two years. And it’s not just me. Most people around find her to be a darling, with her sweet and affable nature coupled with a innate desire to help someone in need. She is this whiff of fresh air in everyone’s life. I feel I’m really lucky to have her as a soulmate, and I also feel all those who have her as a friend or as a kin are really lucky too.

But perhaps the one trait of her that is visible only to me is how much she can love. Yes, I have loved her, loved her like crazy, but it always seems like she loves me even more. Her love is endless, and she drenches my soul with it. I know how many people there are out there who love someone, yet their feeling go unrequited. I feel really lucky to have a woman who loves me so much, she says I’ll never know the extent of her love. Perhaps I will never, perhaps I will. But either way, she makes my life complete, and I’m thankful to God for bringing her into my life.

When I was in pain, she healed me,
In doubt, she gave me reason,

In loneliness, she gave me company,
She is my Princess of all seasons.

Thank you for loving me, my Princess. You’re the most wonderful person I know. I love you.

    Love maketh human.

technically, it’s true as well. Anthropologists have correlated the feelings of love with the evolution of larger brain size, erect posture and the gradual subsequent change of shape in the female hip-bone …

That’s an interesting piece of info :)
You mean that had it not been for people like us, we’d still be living on trees :P
